This Website is Special

For years this website has been an information source and connection point for people interested in the Nam Hoa tradition or Tai Chi and Qigong. I feel this website is special. Like a river it has ebbed and flowed—sometimes with a bit of rushing water and other times like a creek, slowly moving along. But knowing that it is here, for anyone interested, is a special source of comfort to me as a member of the Nam Hoa community.

Our Nam Hoa community continues to grow and change; just like the river—it is never the same from moment to moment. This year, Tom Wolf, Senior Student, Bending Tree Tai Chi, Virginia Beach, VA was awarded the Teacher credential by Master Jim in a ceremony during his retreat visit. The Teacher credential takes a considerable amount of work and commitment as it is the last step prior to becoming a Master. Everyone is so incredibly happy for Tom. Additionally, Tom McDermott has returned from England and is now starting new classes in Florence, Oregon. Now there are instructors in six states! More students have received their instructor’s certificates this year and for the first time, an instructor certificate was awarded on the Gulf Coast to Candace Fowler with Blue Willow Tai Chi in Mobile, AL.  Congratulations to all and welcome back Tom McDermott!

What will 2016 bring for our Nam Hoa community? I can only suggest more of the same—commitment to the practice as it brings so much enjoyment and good health, a shared fellowship among students, instructors, teachers and our wonderful guide—Master Jim Scott-Behrends. Most especially, it brings the wonderful opportunity to share our art with new students. Look around you. Every face you see is a potentially someone who might enjoy and benefit from the ancient Chinese moving meditation. They only wait for your invitation as “when the student is ready, the teacher (or instructor) will appear.” Next year, the river will once again be flowing differently with the added addition of new young grasshoppers. That will be so much fun!

May you have blessings for continued happiness in 2016; the year of the fire monkey…

A Nam Hoa Invitation

Our website is available to anyone interested in Qigong and Tai Chi and our Nam Hoa tradition. We hope if you are reading this for the first time you will enjoy the many offerings here and bookmark the site to come back often as the site has grown so much over its first and year and we have plans to grow some more! Join us as we explore the ancient moving meditation.

There is quite a lot to look at here and what you choose to look at first may be determined by if you are already a Qigong or Tai Chi student with the Nam Hoa tradition.  If you are just exploring the possibility of joining a Chi Kung or Tai Chi class in your local area, you may want to visit the "What is Qigong and Tai Chi?" page first.  To learn more about the style of Qigong and Tai Chi that we practice, click on "Nam Hoa Traditions" page and enjoy reading about the legends of Tai Chi.  To learn more about the linage and instructors who teach Chi Kung and Tai Chi, be sure to visit the "About Our Tai Chi Master" page and the "About our Instructors" page.

The Locations page will give you information on where we you can attend a class with a certified Nam Hoa instructor.

The Chi Reading page is where you will find the recommended reading list for your level of training.

If you have suggestions for this website, please contact Tom Wolf @ Tom@namhoa-internal-arts.com  or use the one of the discussion or ask a question formats.

Special note for instructors- remember the instructor pages are not viewable by the students and public so you must login to see them. Forgot your password? Contact Tom.

One last thing- I am setting my intention for this next year that many of you (especially our instructors) will be contribiting to this site. Why not start today by adding to the discussion page!

Now off you go to enjoy the site....

READ BELOW TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET NOTIFIED ANYTIME A NEW ITEM IS POSTED ON THE NEWS PAGE.

The Nam Hoa website has several built in news feeds set up and ready to help everyone track what new items are posted to various sections of the site. There are many ways to follow an RSS feed and most people will have tools to do so already on their computer. For instance many of the latest browsers and email clients have those tools built in. If you don't have the tools already you can use free web based tools such as Google Reader or even Yahoo web mail. Personally I use a 3rd party application called NetNewsWire (sorry, it's Mac OS only, but the links below have some info on other apps).

Here are a couple of links to information on RSS, how to use it, and some links to tools to help you keep up to date:

iFeedReaders

Feed 101

Armed with that information, if you scroll down and look along the right hand side of our site there is a section marked Syndication. That list shows the news feeds currently available on our site.

I hope that this information helps and that you might sign up to use our own RSS feeds so that you are kept up to date with new information posted to the site.
